Facebook’s popular social messaging app, WhatsApp has launched a desktop app for computers using Windows and Mac operating systems.
For the first time users can download a version of Whatsapp to use on their PC.
As with WhatsApp web the desktop app is simply an extension of your phone, and mirrors the conversations and messages from your mobile device. Because the app runs natively on your desktop, this allows support for native desktop notifications and better keyboard shortcuts.
This addition to WhatsApp’s capabilities brings it more in line with Facebook Messenger which has a native Windows 10 app in addition to a web version.
WhatsApp’s desktop app is free to download and is available for all software versions after Windows 8 and Mac OS 10.9.
